Guide Of Making a Birthday Banner Paul J. Cato, August 5, 2023October 18, 2023 For birthday parties, there is something special about having a touch of home. This simple birthday banner is so fun and festive, but it’s also so easy to make. Create a personalized birthday banner for your friends or family at your next annual celebration and you will definitely feel the love! The guest of honor can also keep the banner as a birthday present. When planning, take into account the theme of your birthday party so that the appearance of the banner matches the festivities. You can customize the colors, paper patterns, flag shapes and even the style of your alphabet. There are no fancy cutting tools, so you can create this project using only the items that you already have in your pantry, as well as Paper, stickers and ornaments. What do you need? Equipment/Tools Glue stick Scissors or paper cutter Pencil Rule Blow Publication Solid Color Stock Card Patterned paper or cardboard in a complementary color Alphabet sticker or black marker Cotton cord or cord Tassels, wavy ribbon, beads (optional) Instruction Cut the stock of cards Start by cutting your card stock. If you are working with standard 8 1/2-inch x 11-inch sheets, you can simply cut them into quarters. Measure your first cut with your ruler along half of the long end and cut the sheet directly in half. Then cut the two sheets in half, creating four quarters. Each of these quarters will measure 4 1/4 inches by 5 1/2 inches. Cutting patterned paper Cut out the Patterned Paper so that it serves as an Accent color and a pattern on each banner flag. Cut pieces of your patterned paper 4 1/4 inches by 2 inches. Glue the pattern Using a glue stick, spread glue on the back of the patterned paper. Glue the Patterned Paper to one end of a single sheet of your solid colored cardboard, making sure to align all the edges. Press firmly on all edges to make sure it is secure. Letter and stamp Place a letter on each flag of your birthday banner and arrange the letter in the center of the flag with the Patterned Paper on the background of the flag. Whether you use stickers or write with a marker, you put a happy birthday letter on each flag. After attaching the letters, punch a hole in the upper corners of each flag using a hole punch on both edges. Cord to cord Cut a piece of string a few feet long. To thread the cards, start with the “H” and insert the string back and forth into the left hole, then through the right hole from the back to the front. Continue in this way with each letter in order. Hang it up Your banner is ready to go. Hang the ropes directly on the wall or attach them to decorative hangers (like the gold ones below), and let the birthday parties begin! Paper Craft BannerBirthdayMake
