Paper Plate Clock Craft for Enjoying Kids Time

Teach your children to time with this simple craft

You can teach children to determine the time with this Paper Clock Craft tutorial. Most children can easily understand the time with digital clocks, but they face a challenge when they learn to recognize the time on an analog clock. Although digital watches are very popular nowadays, analog watches will not disappear anytime soon, and reading them is a skill that a child must master. Help your children stay one step ahead with this simple Paper Clock Craft project, ideal at home or in the classroom.

Before you can even work with a paper clock, your children need to understand three essential skills:

You must have a general understanding of time. For example, you need to know the difference between morning, noon and night.
Once your child has mastered the basic principles of counting, he can learn how to display the time on a paper clock.

Gather Your Materials

First, gather the following supplies:

Paper plate (can be colored or white)
Craft painting
Brush
Pencils, Markers, Golden Pens
Cardboard
Number Stickers (1 to 12)
Brad paper

Apply the digital stickers on the paper plate

If you are using a simple white paper plate, you can paint it in the color of your choice or leave it white. Your children could have fun decorating the paper plates in the colors they like.

If you want to save time, skip a step and use a marker to write on the paper plates instead of using stickers. Trace the numbers 12, 3, 6 and 9 around the inner edges of your plate with a marker, then enter the rest of the numbers. This trick will help you keep the numbers evenly distributed on the plate.

You can make your paper clock look elegant by placing sticker numbers from 1 to 12 around the perimeter of your paper plate. Be sure to place the numbers 12, 3, 6 and 9 on the plate first, in the same way as if you were using a marker to record the numbers. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable.

You can write them in pencil and your child can match the sticker numbers with your pencil marks and stick them.

Make and fix the hands of the clock from the paper plate

Draw two rectangles on a sheet of cardboard. One rectangle must be long for the minute hand and the other rectangle must be shorter for the hour hand.
Cut out the rectangles with scissors.

Using scissors, cut out a point on a short edge of each rectangle.
Turn the paper plate upside down and mark the center of the plate with a pen, pencil or marker.
Punch a small hole in the center of the paper plate with the sharp tip of the scissors.
Turn the plate over.

Punch small holes in the square end of your watch hands and insert the paper pen.
Insert the paper holder into the central hole on the top of the paper plate with your hands and separate the pin on the back to attach it to the paper plate. Make sure that the pin is loose enough to allow the clock hands to move freely.

To help your child tell the difference between the hands of the clock, use a marker to write the Minute on the long hand and the hour on the shorter hand.
